The Greenbrier has been linked to top-notch golf for over a century.  America's Resort boasts three scenic resort courses, a private course that is considered to be among the best in the country, and a nine-hole par-3 walking course. The Greenbrier has everything a golfer needs to make his or her experience one that will never be forgotten, whether it's playing a round where the legends have played on The Old White Course or The Greenbrier Course, improving your short game on The Ashford, or taking a lesson from The Greenbrier's qualified professionals.  We'll play all three resort courses and have fun team competitions during each round.

The Greenbrier's Bunker Tour:  We have included this as part of your SFGA package and the tour lasts about 90 minutes.

The declassified Bunker at The Greenbrier is a must-see experience that takes you behind the scenes and walks you through a fascinating period in the resort's history. Carved deep into the mountainside beneath our West Virginia Wing is an emergency Cold War fallout shelter. Once a top-secret U.S. government relocation facility for Congress, The Bunker is now open to anyone interested in reliving a legendary piece of The Greenbrier history. It has been featured on NBC, FOX, Discovery Channel, History Channel, VICE, ABC and top publications from around the world. Bunker Tours provide a unique and in-depth look behind the hidden doors and let you explore an aspect of The Greenbrier that no other resort can claim.

Afternoon Tea in the Upper Lobby:  Every afternoon at 4:15, America's Resort welcomes you to take part in Tea Time Down South, a grand tradition that has been going on since the 1930s. In the lovely Upper Lobby of The Greenbrier, indulge in a delicious selection of freshly baked pastries and cookies. As you enjoy your tea and treats, live piano music and/or dancers will provide entertainment.

The Greenbrier is an enormous 11,000-acre luxury retreat with 710 rooms that also includes 128 Guest & Estate Houses. Our participants will stay in the Greenbrier's Historic Main Hotel Building in Superior Rooms which are an upgrade over the resort's Traditional Rooms. The Superior room amenities include: High-Speed WiFI, Personal In-Room Safes, Ice Service Once Daily, Refreshment Bars, Digital Access to Newspapers, Clock Radios, Flat Screen TVs, Dual-Line Accessory Compatible Telephones, Daily Maid Service, Mineral Spa Toiletries, Lighted Vanity Mirrors, Hair Dryers, Irons/Ironing Boards, Guest-Controlled Heat/AC, and Robes & Slippers. The all of the Greenbrier Rooms feature signature Dorothy Draper Decor emphasizing vibrant colors, floral patterns and bold contrasts unique to each and every room. For over 65 years, The Greenbrier has carefully maintained this distinctive look celebrating luxury, elegance and history in every detail.

The Greenbrier offers far too many activities to list here. The activities displayed above are just a few things to consider.

Outdoor Infinity Pool:  The views, water, food, and sun combine to make the experience at the Outdoor Pool, which opened in 2014 to replace the original pool, incomparable. Its zero entry design mimics the gradual entry into a lake or a pond, while the stunning infinity edge shows off the beautiful mountains and The Greenbrier's iconic golf courses. The maximum depth is 5 feet at the infinity edge, while the midsection is 2- to 4-feet deep. The pool is approximately 90x50 feet, and food and beverage service is available through Tree Tops Cafe.

Pricing/Reservations: General use of the Outdoor Pool is included in our Daily Resort Fee and is complimentary for registered overnight guests and members. Reservations are required for the Outdoor Pool.

The Meadows Golf Course: Originally known as Lakeside/Meadows, the course was redesigned by Seth Raynor in 1923, enlarged to 18 holes by Dick Wilson in 1962, and then renovated (and renamed) by Bob Cupp in 1999. On September 6, 2017, after major renovations due to a damaging flood a much-rebuilt and upgraded Meadows Course held its formal grand opening. The course has joined the other championship designs at The Greenbrier and now boasts a redesigned routing layout, rebuilt greens, and stacked sod bunkers.  The Meadows is a great course to begin our tournament play since it offers picturesque mountain views, spacious, immaculately maintained fairways, and accommodating greens.

The Ashford Short Course:  The newest golf offering at The Greenbrier, The Ashford Short Course is a 9-hole walking course. The course is available to members of The Greenbrier Sporting Club, Greenbrier Golf and Tennis Club members and guests of The Greenbrier. The Ashford Short Course features designs from some of the most famous holes in golf. It provides the perfect opportunity for golfers to perfect their short games or create friendly competitions with friends when time for a full round isn't available.

The Ashford is a 9-hole loop of par 3 holes ranging from 56 to 112 yards in length. The holes pay tribute to revered architects and courses around the world and provide a relaxed environment that is entertaining for golfers of all levels and abilities.

There is currently a $75 fee to play the Ashford and our SFGA members receive a 10% discount on green fees. Tee times are recommended.

Guided Walking History Tour starting in the Upper Lobby:  The Greenbrier has been welcoming guests since 1778! With nearly 250 years of history, there's no shortage of stories and information for guests to explore. A history so deep can't be contained within the hotel walls, so the exterior tour provides the opportunity to explore some other areas of The Greenbrier's 11,000 acres. Interior and Exterior Tours are alternated on a daily basis.  Interior Tours focus on the most important chapters of The Greenbrier story, as well as the famed interior decorating company, Dorothy Draper & Company, which has given America’s Resort its signature look for more than 75 years. Each tour is created specifically to answer the questions guests want answered.

Exterior Tours offer greater detail about the role of the cottages and conclude at the Springhouse.

History Tours and Presentations (excluding Bunker Tours) are included in our Daily Resort Fee and are complimentary for registered overnight guests and members.

The Greenbrier Spa: Elite guests first visited The Greenbrier to "take the waters" over 230 years ago. Today, the award-winning West Virginia spa invites a new generation to enjoy the restorative properties of America's Resort. Combining native sulphur water spa treatments with state-of-the-art therapeutic experiences, The Greenbrier Spa treatments feature the finest products and stress-relief therapy anywhere. The Greenbrier Spa provides both soothing and curative treatments designed to ease sore muscles, improve skin composition and revitalize overall health and well-being.

The Greenbrier Spa named No. 4 spa in North America and as a result, they have heavy demand, if you seek a spa treatment during your visit, is strongly recommended that an appointment be arranged well in advance of our visit. Our SFGA members receive a 10% discount on Spa Treatments.

The Greenbrier Golf Course: Seth Raynor, a personal friend and former assistant of Charles Blair Macdonald and one of the great early American golf course designers, created the Greenbrier course, which debuted in play in 1924. In order to prepare for the 1979 Ryder Cup, Jack Nicklaus later modified it in 1977. The Greenbrier would host the Solheim Cup in 1994, making it the only resort course in the entire world to hold both esteemed competitions.  The Greenbrier American Express Championship, a PGA TOUR Champions competition, was held on the course from 1985 through 1987.

The tree-lined course promotes and rewards accurate approach shots into the greens as well as shot shaping off the tee. The terraced and well-bunked greens demand skill, finesse, and imagination on and around them.   Following the 2016 flood that significantly affected the course, The Greenbrier was rerouted to currently play as a 10-hole course. Our SFGA golfers will go around two times and play a 20-hole round.

The Old White Golf Course: The Greenbrier’s Old White golf course is one of the oldest in the country and has hosted many PGA Tour events. And this past August the course played host to the LIV Tour. Bryson DeChambeau became a first-time LIV winner, carding a Sunday 58 at the par-70, one day after a 61, and birdieing the 18th to do it! He won by six shots over Mito Pereira.

Tour players love the classic design and the sense of history. Charles Blair Macdonald, known as the father of American golf course architecture, modeled several holes from some of the most famous throughout Europe. The 8th Hole was styled after the "Redan" at North Berwick, the 13th after the "Alps" at Prestwick and the 15th after the "Eden" at St. Andrews. His associate, Seth Raynor, assisted in the course construction and returned in the 1920s to oversee updates to the golf course.

Many of golf's greatest players, from Hogan to Palmer and from Woods to Mickelson, have walked The Greenbrier's lush fairways. In fact, Sam Snead served as the Golf Professional from 1946 through 1974. Snead was rehired as the Golf Professional Emeritus in 1993 and remained in that position until his death in 2002. During Sam's years at The Greenbrier, he shot 60 six times on The Old White and three-putted the par-3, 18th each time!

After sustaining substantial damage during the flood of 2016, which forced the cancellation of The Greenbrier Classic, The Old White reopened in July of 2017, fully restored to its original glory. By fully embracing the original Macdonald/Raynor design elements, the course has been overwhelmingly embraced by tour professionals and resort guests alike.  For this round use of a Fore Caddy is required and the Fee as well as Tip is included as part of your SFGA package.

The Casino Club at The Greenbrier:  Try your luck at 30 tables throughout The Casino Club. Individuals and groups are both welcome, with private tables available upon request.  Games Include: Blackjack, Roulette, Mini-Baccarat, Craps and Gaming Machines. Take a spin on 180 different slot machines.
