Rated #4 out of the 75 Best Golf Resorts in the U.S., Sea Island Golf Club offers three exceptional 18-hole championship courses. The Seaside Course, home to the PGA TOUR’s McGladrey Classic, is a links course graced by majestic ocean vistas in the tradition of St. Andrews. The Plantation Course winds enticingly through marsh and forest offering a uniquely dramatic and challenging design cultivated by Rees Jones.

Plantation Course:
With Rees Jones' masterful renovation, Plantation Course unfolds among a forest of ancient live oak and cedar, with a hint of danger lurking in its tidal creeks and lakes. Plantation boasts expansive fairways that give definition to the course, showcasing beautiful views of the ocean, oaks, and blooming flowers – enticing the accomplished and inviting the novice.

Jones calls the new Plantation "parkland by the sea" for its magnificent vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and its lush natural scenery. Rees added, "I took the work of Walter Travis (who designed Plantation in 1926) and Dick Wilson (who fashioned Retreat in 1960) and produced a classic style course with a similar flavor."

Seaside Course:
Seaside is the pinnacle of links golf. Situated at the southern tip of St. Simons Island at The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club, this ocean side course places a premium on careful shot selection, recovery, and putting. Offering Sea Island's most demanding layout, Seaside is the host venue for the PGA TOUR's McGladrey Classic. Seaside has also hosted multiple USGA events, challenging golf's best amateur players.

Originally designed in 1929 by famed architects Harry S. Colt and Charles Alison, the Seaside Course was updated in 1999 by Tom Fazio – earning it a prominent place on Golf Digest's list of "Top 100 Courses in the United States." Tidal creeks, dunes, salt marshes and the St. Simons Sound frame the course, which plays fast, firm, and fun in the tradition of legendary Scottish links.

This will be our fourth visit to Sea Island and this time our members will stay at the five-star Lodge at Sea Island.

The Lodge at Sea Island: is a golf resort where the only thing you'll have to think about are which club to choose. Your personal butler will take care of anything your caddy can't. Situated along the beaches of St. Simons Sound and the Atlantic, The Lodge debuted in 2001 as an English manor and clubhouse.  The estate features only 40 guest rooms, most featuring ocean and/or golf fairway views. They're elegantly furnished with antiques, overstuffed chairs, exposed beam ceilings, and deep soaking baths. The Lodge wine cellar houses an impressive backbone of 4,500 bottles and 750 different labels.  The Lodge is the heart of Sea Island's legendary golf mecca. If the greens don't cooperate, The Golf Learning Center employs three of Golf Digest's top 50 teachers. Lodge guests also have full access to eight clay tennis courts, a massive spa and fitness center, sailing, deep sea-fishing, salt marsh kayaking, trap and skeet shooting and private beach.

US News and World Report recently put out their list of the Top 10 Hotels in the United States. The top hotels for 2015 stand out among a varied landscape of great American properties. High-end amenities, excellent customer service and gourmet restaurants contribute to the distinguished reputations of each of these hotels. Here is what they had to say… “Surpassing all other U.S. News-ranked hotels in the United States, The Lodge at Sea Island earns the top distinction of 2015's Best Hotel in the USA. Though The Lodge has been recognized as a Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond property for several years, the hotel skyrocketed to the top after gaining further recognition among experts and guests alike. Guests laud just about everything at the hotel — from the seven restaurants to the three 18-hole championship golf courses to the 65,000-square-foot spa (located at its sister property The Cloister, which is also on Sea Island grounds). Guest rooms are also met with praise for their waterfront views, wood furnishings, spacious patios and large bathrooms with rainfall showerheads and deep soaking tubs.” They didn’t even mention that the golf is so good that the PGA Tour stops there each year to play the McGladrey Classic!

We couldn’t think of a more fitting venue for our final event of the year than the Lodge at Sea Island Resort. It’s one of a few five star golf resort destinations in the country and one that should be experienced if possible. We’ve negotiated a terrific package and hope you will join us for this marvelous event. If you are interested I recommend registering early as it should be a popular trip.
